Position Summary

Performs duties to provide administrative, outreach, and customer service support of the Corvallis Transit System and Benton County Special and Rural Transportation. Responsibilities include developing and posting operational changes, developing and maintaining web content, transcribing advisory group minutes, providing customer support, assisting with community outreach materials and events, and tracking transit program data necessary for reporting to State and federal agencies. These tasks are illustrative only and may include other related duties.

Essential Functions

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.Associates degree or certificate in transportation planning, public or business administration, marketing or a related field preferred.

Three years of related work experience or education in office/business practices and procedures including database management, website maintenance, transcription, or basic accounting/bookkeeping, including development and use of spreadsheets.

Experience and familiarity with public transportation is highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrable knowledge of basic outreach methods, and the ability to communicate transit service offerings to a diverse audience.

Accurate clerical skills in word processing, proofreading and editing, filing, creating and maintaining spreadsheets, and operating office equipment.

Excellent customer service skills, and the ability to interact with a diverse audience. Well-developed problem-solving skills. Ability to resolve public inquires and complaints by telephone, e-mail and in person.

Ability to maintain accurate manual and computerized filing and record-keeping systems.

Proficient use of basic math, business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time to perform the essential functions of the position.Knowledge of commonly used office software products (e.g. word processing, e-mail, electronic calendar, spreadsheet, database, web, presentation and brochure development)

Knowledge of or ability to learn program-specific software and web tools such as financial system software, web content software, and online applications and reporting forms.

Ability to meet deadlines while prioritizing multiple duties and projects around set time constraints, and to work with regular interruptions. Ability to produce accurate work in a timely manner.

Ability to work independently and as a team member with staff and outside partner agencies. Ability to act independently under general guidelines.

Ability to get along with co-workers and the general public, and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to learn the City and County public transit services, policies, and schedules, and both Public Works and citywide resources by the end of the probationary period.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and judgment in dealing with sensitive or confidential information.

Understanding of operational rules and general instructions. Discern and apply procedures to situations as encountered within established guidelines.

Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.

Special Requirements
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Oregon driver's license.

Occasional work outside regular business hours, including weekends, may be required.

Ability to pass a pre-employment physical exam and a background check and/or criminal history check.
