This position is located in Office of Protection Services. The employeewill utilize personnel and equipment assigned in such a manner to accomplish the mission, and any other special assignments.

Supervises the activities of the police force with the emphasis on insuring adequate patrol of the entire Park, inspecting and regulating all activities as necessary to maintain maximum safety and security for the National Zoological Park during their tour of duty.
Makes tours of inspection of the Park or area of responsibility when needed, reviewing security measures, appearance, adherence to established rules and regulations, efficiency, conduct and general performance of duty of all police personnel assigned to the shift or tour of duty.
- Investigates complaints of crimes, accidents, incidents occurring within the Park, taking immediate action to control disorderly conduct, loss prevention, property damage, recover lost children, administer or obtain aid for the sick or injured including providing for the safety of employees and visitors.
As required, trains personnel in accepted police techniques in the enforcement of regulations, laws and ordinances, including personally furnishing information to visitors and arranging assistance for the handicapped and providing police escort to dignitaries and very important persons as required to facilitate their movement and protection throughout the Park.
