Under the general direction of the MVH COO, Michigan Veteran Homes, Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the SE MI Home for Veterans (SEMHV) Administrator will lead and manage the Home, a long-term nursing care institution providing 24-hour care for 128 veterans and eligible dependents. The scope of operations provided by the SEMHV staff of approx. 150 involves admissions and discharges, medical services, nursing services, social services, financial services, engineering and physical plant services, volunteer services, material and supply services and dietary services. The Administrator will operate the SEMHV efficiently and in compliance with federal and state statutes, rules and regulations and policies and procedures established by the Department and Board of Directors. The Administrator will develop, evaluate and implement plans, policies and procedures to maintain the current, and improve the future, level of care provided at SEMHV. The Director will coordinate SEMHV activities with state, federal and local agencies involved in long-term nursing healthcare systems.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience
Two years of experience as a professional manager or program/staff specialist, or equivalent experience.

Alternate Education and Experience

Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and three years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level; or, two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 15 level, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements

Leave Time

Full time employees receive between 15 and 35 vacation leave days per year. Employees also receive 13 sick days per year, and employees receive 8 hours of leave to participate in certain school functions or community activities. Employees may also qualify for up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for certain family or medical situations.

Holidays

State employees receive 12 scheduled holidays each year, which include New Years Eve Day and New Years Day, Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day just to name a few.

Insurance and Other Benefits

Deferred Compensation

Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount you want deducted from your paycheck.

Retirement

Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match that percentage (up to 3%).
