(NON-CIVIL SERVICE)

Duties Summary

Sets up and maintains accounting records for a major section of an accounting system or for a small department and performs or supervises the reviewing, posting, revising and summarization of fiscal records and statements; compiles data and prepares reports; and performs other related duties as required.

Note: Calculation of experience is based on full-time, 40-hour work weeks. Part-time experience must be pro-rated. Example: Twelve months of experience at 20 hours per week is equivalent to six months of experience. In addition, hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week will to be credited. Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours per week is equivalent to one year, not one and one-half years.

Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and four (4) years of clerical experience, two (2) of which shall have been in account record keeping work.

Knowledge of: bookkeeping principles and practices; office practices and procedures; principles and practices of supervision; grammar, spelling and word usage; filing methods and systems; the use of standard office machines.

Ability to: maintain fiscal accounts and records; prepare financial reports and statements; interpret fiscal records and data; interpret laws, rules and regulations of the department; make arithmetical computations; compare names and numbers; operate calculating and adding machines and typewriters; give and follow oral and written instructions; work harmoniously with others.

Health and Physical Condition: Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties.

CITIZENSHIP. You must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment. The requirements for Citizenship must be met at the time of hire.
