This position resides within the Police Service, Amarillo Veterans Affairs Health Care System (AVAHCS), and is physically located at the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center, Amarillo Texas. The Police Service provides a full range of law enforcement and security support for all AVAHCS facilities which includes two sites which are staffed with VA Police, Amarillo VA Medical Center, Lubbock Out Patient Clinic, and the Childress CBOC, Dalhart CBOC, Clovis CBOC located in New Mexico.

The incumbent monitors and receives routine and emergency calls from a variety of sources that need
police, fire, medical or other emergency services.
Determines the nature and location of the emergency; uses their judgment to prioritize events and commit police, ambulance, and fire resources appropriately; determines what notifications are necessary based upon event type, makes such notifications and coordinates follow-up communications.
Receives and process routine and emergency calls, maintains contact with law enforcement units, ambulance crews, and medical code teams on assignment, maintains status and location of police, ambulance crews, and medical code teams and coordinates communication between a verity of agencies as needed.
Monitors direct emergency alarms, answers non-emergency calls for assistance. Enters, updates and retrieves information from a variety of computer systems and sensitive databases.
Monitors and directs response to security and life safety communications, radio dispatching, telephone, video monitoring systems and other emergency communication circuits.
Work Schedule: A Shift-8a-4p, B Shift 4p-Midnight, C Shift Midnight-8a rotating shifts includes nights, weekends, and holidays
