This vacancy will be filled as a temporary Classified WAE (CWAE). Incumbents in these positions may not work more than 1,245 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first.

A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments. It is a requirement that all Revenue employees must adhere to all tax laws of the State of Louisiana.
LA R.S.15:587.5, 587.6 and the IRS require the Louisiana Department of Revenue to conduct a criminal history records check of a prospective employee who will access federal tax information to perform job duties. Responsibilities and/or Preferences:
The incumbent of this position is responsible for reviewing dormant business tax accounts, determining the reason for the dormant status, resolution of dormant status by correspondence or research and contacting taxpayers. The incumbent must be able to analyze correspondence received and documents on file to appropriately correct the status of a business account. The incumbent must have a vast understanding of all tax laws, rules and regulations for all taxes administered by the department. The incumbent must have knowledge of tax laws governing filing requirements and assessment and distrait procedures. The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of the department's computer system. The incumbent must possess good interpretational, analytical, reading, communication and listening skills. Also, must have the ability to provide professional and courteous customer service, especially when responding to the most irate caller.

To assist taxpayers by analyzing, adjusting, collecting payments, and resolving discrepancies on accounts relative to tax due notices.
Level of Work:
Close from Revenue Tax Analyst Supervisor or higher-level personnel.
Location of Work:

Differs from Revenue Tax Analyst 2 by the absence of experienced-level duties.
Assists taxpayers in preparing tax forms, tax returns, and tax registration forms; responds to inquiries regarding such.
Determines validity and accuracy of assessed tax liabilities by reviewing forms, documents, and payments for compliance with tax laws.
Contacts taxpayers to clarify and obtain information; informs taxpayer of tax account status, legal rights, and obligations, and computes penalty and interest.
Determines appropriate collection action (i.e. informal installment agreement, penalty waiver, extensions, etc.) as a means of satisfying liabilities, based on account history and taxpayer response.
Initiates billings on accounts not complying with filing requirements by calculating and assessing tax amount.
Sells cigarette tax stamps to authorized wholesale tobacco dealers; prepares reports on sales.
