The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

What does the job do?
The Oracle Database Administrator Security Specialist shall be the expert responsible for the administration anddevelopment of Oracle database security policy for Bridges, MiSACWIS, and all other DHHS Oracle applications. The person will monitor Oracle quarterly security updates, research the impact on the DHHS Oracle environment, and work with otherdatabase staff to implement only updates that will not adversely affect the current environment. The position is responsible for overall strategic, technical, architectural, and administrative oversight of the Oracle database security. The position is critical to DHHS's mission critical applications; overlooking one critical security update can be catastrophic. Overall performance, security, data integrity, and functionality of DHHS's management information systems are improved by incorporating the Oracle database security options with a skilled database security expert to proactively handle database security. Technical research needs to be conducted to determine the impact of security changes to the infrastructure. As an Oracle database security expert, this position provides rapid response to the user community's request for assistance in matters of database security.

Education and Experience
Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination ofthe following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications,networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project managementor mathematics.

Experience
Information Technology Specialist 14
Three years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure orProgrammer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure orProgrammer/Analyst 12.

Alternate Education and Experience

An associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, mathematics or equivalent; and at least two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician and four years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst 12.

OR

At least an educational level typically acquired through the completion of high school and at least three years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician and four years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst 12.

Leave Time

Full time employees receive between 15 and 35 vacation leave days per year. Employees also receive 13 sick days per year, and employees receive 8 hours of leave to participate in certain school functions or community activities. Employees may also qualify for up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for certain family or medical situations.

Holidays

State employees receive 12 scheduled holidays each year, which include New Years Eve Day and New Years Day, Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day just to name a few.

Insurance and Other Benefits

Insurances include health, vision, dental and life. Employees also have the option to purchase additional life, accidental death, long term disability, long term care insurance, and legal services. Flexible spending accounts for medical expenses and child care are also available.

Deferred Compensation

Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount you want deducted from your paycheck.

Retirement

Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match that percentage (up to 3%).
