The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) provides a wide range of human services designed to promote self-sufficiency, safety and well-being for all Georgians. The department is one of the largest agencies in state government with an annual budget of $1.8 billion and nearly 9,000 employees. DHS is comprised of three Divisions: the Division of Aging Services, the Division of Child Support Services, and the Division of Family and Children Services.

The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) is seeking candidates for the position of Business Support Analyst 1.This position is based at the DHS Stateoffice located in Atlanta, FultonCounty, GA.

DCSS is the division within DHS that enhances the well-being of children by locating non-custodial parents; establishing paternity and support orders; enforcing and modifying support obligations; and collecting and distributing child support payments. This program promotes parent accountability and self-sufficiency while reducing the public responsibility for providing financial and medical support to children. DCSS also administers several outreach programs to include but not limited to Fatherhood, Prison Re-Entry and Problem Solving Court. All of these outreach initiatives are devoted to increasing non-custodial parental involvement in the child's life.

Job Description

Pay Grade: J

  • Under supervision, performs complex administrative duties and statistical, financial, or operational data analysis and reporting in support of management decision making in functional area.
  • Identifies trends, discrepancies, and variances to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • May partner with other departments, divisions, outside agencies, and vendors to address business issues.
  • Exercises various latitudes of independent judgment. May administer or provide high level support for various projects, grants, contracts, implementation of procedures, and/or any specialized functions
  • Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned area
  • Assists in the development of data quality tests to improve the accuracy of performance data
  • Collects and evaluates statistical data to identify program performance trends
  • Reviews and develops grant proposals. Oversees various areas of grant administration
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by manager, director or leadership team.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Skill in using relevant computer software
  • Ability to use job-specific tools to review data
  • Ability to prepare tailored reports to meet agency/program needs
  • Ability to acquire data
  • Knowledge to gather an analyze data from separate data bases
  • Ability to gather and analyze data through on-site reviews
  • Ability to review and develop grant proposals
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience related to area of assignment.
OR
  • High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of relevant experience, two (2) years of which at an advanced/supervisory level.
OR

  • Two (2) years of experience at the lower level Child Support Services Agent 3 (SST062) or position equivalent.
Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over year basis.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience working with state, local, or federal government
  • Work experience involving mentoring and coaching
