This position is assigned to New Hanover Correctional Center located in Wilmington, NC.
The person selected will serve as the administrative support person to the Correctional Superintendent II.This position's duties require specialized knowledge in the processing and application of information, documents and/or material. The person selected for this position will be responsible for handling highly sensitive and confidential information.In addition to the duties assigned by the facility head, Administrative Specialist I will serve as an important member of the facility's administrative team.Areas of operation include the Switchboard, Personnel and Accounting. The person selected will be required to serve as back up to other key positions assigned to the administrative department.This position is a OSC Integrated HR-Payroll System Time and Leave Administrator; responsible for recording work hours in the personnel system (formerly known as BEACON). This person may also be tasked with assisting the inmate banking section with document processing and assisting the facility mail operations during times of heavy mail processing. The person selected for this position must possess good written and verbal communication skills. The Administrative Specialist I will be required to interact with employees, vendors, visitors and inmate family and friends.Friendly and professional attitude with documented knowledge of clerical / secretarial skills.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
