The First Step of the Hiring Process
Covers Creating Your Career Profile
Your Career Profile with the US Postal Service
The USPS Career profile application is to be completed on the USPS website and can take up to an hour to complete. Before starting, find a quiet location and make sure you are using a desktop computer. You will need all your previous employment and experience information available to complete the application. You will have to create an account online, this requires a valid email address to set up the account. Applicants are not allowed to create multiple profiles, so make sure you use an email address to ensure you receive all communication. Preparing yourself before getting started is recommended, as the system will only allow you to stay logged in for 30 minutes at a time. You will be able to save your application if needed to complete at a later time.
Your Career profile provides the USPS with your previous work experience, physical capabilities and educational background. Once it is completed, you will receive an email request to take a personality assessment online. You must pass the assessment before moving to the next step of the process. If for any reason you fail the personality assessment, you may retake it in 7 days. The postal service will only allow applicants to take this exam twice before disqualifying the applicant. Answer the questions truthfully and consistently and you should not have any problems, remember this part of the process is to test your personal integrity and character.
