The Emergency Service Exam
The Emergency Service written exam includes various test sections. Each section is to test general abilities that are required for the job. Each exam may refer to each section differently, so it is important to become familiar with all test sections.
1. Airway & Breathing
This section asks questions on airway and breathing assessment, proper interventions for patients with respire tory issues, oxygen delivery systems, ventilatory support, and respiratory anatomy and physiology.
2. Cardiology
The section will test your knowledge of cardiovascular assessments, recognition of cardiovascular emergencies, and treatment concepts.
3. Medical Emergencies
The medical emergencies is a general title for thousands of conditions. The topics include; Respiratory, Neurology, Endocrinology, Allergies/Anaphylaxis, Gastroenterology, Urology, Environmental, Behavioral, &Toxicology.
4. Trauma
This section asks questions on assessment, recognition, and treatment of various traumatic injuries.
5. Obstetrics/Gynecology/Pediatrics
In this section of the emergency service exam you will be test your knowledge of Obstetrics/Gynecology and Pediatrics.
6. Operations
The operations section of the exam will test your understanding of scene safety, legal considerations, vehicle operations, communications, documentation, infection control, quality improvement, DNR, basic patient assessment, basic physiology, hazardous materials, mass casualty, and scene management.
