How can your services make it easier to apply for a civil service career?

Job Support Services offers a multifaceted, web based program to assist applicants in applying for civil service jobs.  The elements of our program include instructional text in a pdf format that is downloadable, instructional videos, practice tests, online chat, and live customer support

Do all civil service positions require the applicant to take an exam?

Not all civil service positions require the applicant to take an exam.  Different government agencies and positions may require that the applicant take a qualifying exam.  The job posting will disclose this information.  For example, an applicant for an entry level position with the United States Postal Service must take the 473 Postal Exam and to be eligible for employment.  Applicants for a positions with the Transportation Security Administration may be required to pass an image interpretation test or a writing skills assessment.

Do state governments require applicants to pass an exam?

Yes, some states and some cities require the applicant to pass an exam.  For example, New York city requires applicants for some positions to pass a civil service exam.

Do you offer test preparation materials?

Job Support Services’ programs include sample test questions, practice tests, and, for many careers, test simulators that simulate the actual exam that the applicant must take to be eligible for the job for which he or she is applying.  An applicant that registers for one of our programs may use these materials as frequently as necessary.

Are your programs required to apply for a civil service career?

There is typically no requirement that an applicant prepare for a test required by an employer or an entrance exam required for entry into a school or a profession, entrance exam or Preparation and practice are the keys to success. 

Do veteran’s receive any preferences for applying? 

Applicants claiming veterans’ preference must attach a copy of member copy 4 (only) of Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD Form 214) or other proof of eligibility if claiming 10-point veterans’ preference.

Do you provide a hard copy book to use in studying for a civil service exam?

Job Support Services does not just sell books to study from.  Our programs are web based and all have multiple components.  All our programs include text that you can either read on line or can download and print. 

Do you have a refund policy?

We are very confident that a customer that purchases and uses our test preparation materials will successfully pass the applicable exam. However, if the customer fails to pass the official exam for any reason we offer a full refund.
